The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe

The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe is one of the few true ski-in/ski-out luxury hotels in the world, at one of California's most celebrated scenic destinations. Guests step out onto the slopes at mid-mountain from the hotel terrace, and are a short ride away from the top.

Hornberger + Worstell’s design pays tribute to the great mountain lodges originally built in the west at the turn of the century. With a central, three-story-high granite fireplace, the Great Room captures the sophisticated yet rustic tenor of the building. The Ritz-Carlton is one of the first five-star resorts to achieve LEED Gold certification. Some of the environmentally friendly features include employing underground parking to avoid the heat island effect of outdoor asphalt lots, use of recycled steel, and energy efficient heating and cooling systems.
