Campus Inn and Conference Center
University of Notre Dame, Indiana
The University of Notre Dame selected a prominent lakefront site for the Notre Dame Inn, a 190-guestroom inn and conference center. The Inn is situated in close proximity to the heart of campus and includes configurable meeting space that accommodates groups of various sizes, conferences, and social functions. The Inn also includes a chapel, library, great hall for the display of Notre Dame archival collections, and outdoor gardens.
Hornberger + Worstell’s master plan supports the spirit of Notre Dame’s collegiate Gothic architecture by bridging the classically ordered world of the campus grid with the more romantically dispersed buildings along the lakefront. Framing a view of the university basilica, the Inn connects stylistically with the heart of the campus by evoking Notre Dame’s collegiate Gothic architecture. The scale and massing of the Inn are also referential to the neighboring academic buildings.
